1. What we collect
We collect the account details you provide when you sign up, such as your name, email address, and the preferences needed to run your account.
If you use location-based features, we process precise location (including in the background when Always permission is granted), motion activity, battery and connectivity signals, circle membership, places you save, declared routines, check-ins, commute intents, and related alerts so invited circle members can see what you choose to share.
We may also collect technical diagnostics and crash logs to keep the app reliable. We do not use advertising identifiers for tracking across other companies’ apps or websites.
2. How we use information
We use information to provide private family safety features: show current status to your circle, evaluate declared safety plans, deliver exception alerts and SOS, support check-ins and commute sharing, and respond to support requests.
We also use limited operational information to detect abuse, secure the service, troubleshoot failures, and improve reliability.
3. How sharing works
Location and communication features are designed to work within the private circles you configure. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share private family location data for advertising purposes.
Where technically feasible, we minimize what our systems can access by using encryption, scoped permissions, and role-based controls inside each household or caregiver group.
You should only invite people you trust, and only share another person’s information when you have the right and consent to do so — especially for teenagers and other minors in your care.
4. Your choices and rights
You can update your account details, adjust notification preferences, leave a circle, pause location sharing by changing system permissions, or delete your account from Settings. Account deletion anonymizes personal profile data and removes you from circles.
You may also contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or clarification about how your information is handled. We will review requests in accordance with applicable privacy law.
5. Data retention
Current location status is kept while you remain in a circle and sharing is active. Historical location points and activity history are retained according to your circle’s plan limits (for example Free may not keep extended history; paid plans keep a limited window such as 7–30 days) and then deleted or aggregated.
We keep account and circle records as long as needed to operate the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. After account deletion, personal identifiers are anonymized; residual operational logs may remain for a limited security window.
6. Children and families
Orbit Guardian is a family safety product for parents/guardians and the people they care for. It is not directed at children under 13 as a primary audience and is not submitted in Apple’s Kids Category.
Circle owners are responsible for obtaining appropriate consent before locating or inviting minors, and for using the product in a way that respects trust — exception alerts and safety plans, not constant surveillance.
7. Subscriptions
Paid plans (Orbit Family and Orbit Unlimited) are purchased through the Apple App Store. Payment data is handled by Apple, not by Orbit Guardian. Entitlement status is synced so your circle’s plan limits stay accurate.
